There is still plenty of time to order some great Italian wines to go with your Turkey and Christmas pudding for this holiday season.
Chardonnay or Pinot Nero are great options for Turkey, however you might also want to try an Italian native grape varietal that will work equally well. For these classic grape varietals try Enio Ottaviani from Emilia Romagna, Poderi Angelini from Puglia or maybe a crisp fresh version from Villa de Puppi in Friuli.
On the native grape side an option could be a Fiano, which has loads of great fruit flavours try Poderi Angelini from Puglia for a Fiana del Salento. Or for the red's why not think about a Barolo, the classic nebbiolo grape from Piemonte. Makes for a really great red to savour. Check out Cascina Bongiovanni, especially the 2004 Pernanno which won a Decanter Gold medal in 2008, was rated with 93 points by Wine Spectator, and Jancis Robinson reckoned it was worth 17.5+ when tasted. All say that this wine is drinking really well from 2012 - so go for it.
We have loads of great Passiti to accompany your cheese selection, forego the port and try a sticky instead you will not look back! and then why not try a Moscato d'Asti with the pud - a great desert wine with a light sparkle and fantastic fruit flavours that copes oh so well with the richness of a pudding.
