Cascina Bongiovanni

in the region:

Cascina Bongiovanni started in the early 1950’s, when Davide Mozzone’s maternal grandfather, Giovanni Bongiovanni purchased a plot of untamed woodland and planted a Nebbiolo vineyard in its stead. The estate now totals 15.3 acres  (6.2 hectares). Davide is assisted by a top agronomist, Gian Piero Romana and between them have produced some amazing wines. Their first vintage was 1993, and they have gone from strength to strength from then. Davide has recently been recognized by Hugh Johnson in his 2008 pocket wine guide as one of the up and coming new style makers of Barolo in Piemonte. His wines have won numerous awards, and his Barbera d’Alba 2004 achieved a 3 stars “recommended” commendation in Decanter Magazine.
